Kavanah Psychiatry LLC, providing excellent psychiatric care in Ohio.

Meet Olivia Davis, Kavanah Psychiatry LLC Founder

Welcome. I am truly glad you are here.

I founded Kavanah Psychiatry to offer a level of psychiatric care that is thoughtful, intentional, and deeply human. Before becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I spent six years as a registered nurse in adolescent and young adult psychiatry. Those years shaped both my clinical expertise and my philosophy of care. They taught me that people heal best when they are understood as whole human beings, not reduced to symptoms or checked boxes. Evidence-based care, delivered with depth, warmth, and integrity, can change everything.

My academic background in Social Anthropology continues to guide my work. Understanding culture, identity, meaning-making, and the complexities of human experience allows me to provide care that is culturally informed, context-sensitive, and profoundly respectful of each person’s narrative. You are not simply a diagnosis. You are a person with a story, values, and a future that matters.

I am especially passionate about supporting people navigating anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, life transitions, and the ongoing work of becoming themselves. My approach is steady, relational, and collaborative. I meet clients where they are, with curiosity, respect, and clinical clarity, and we move forward together in ways that feel grounded and purposeful.

When ambivalence, fear, or self-doubt makes change difficult, I often integrate Motivational Interviewing to help clients reconnect with their own values and inner wisdom. I do not push people in directions that do not belong to them. Instead, I help them make choices that align with who they want to be.

Clients often describe me as present, responsive, deeply invested, and exceptionally thorough. If you are my client, you have an advocate. You have someone who listens carefully, explains clearly, and partners with you to create a treatment plan that is thoughtful, personalized, and supportive of the life you want to build.

Outside of my clinical work, I find joy in the quiet beauty of everyday life. I love cooking and baking (I am happily immersed in my sourdough era), planning travels, and spending time with my husband and two spirited Hungarian Puli dogs.

Why Choose Kavanah Psychiatry?

Depth of Experience You Can Trust

Before becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I spent six years working directly with adolescents and young adults in acute psychiatric settings. That level of hands-on experience informs every clinical decision I make. It shapes the safety, nuance, steadiness, and sophistication of your care. Experience matters — and here, it is foundational

A Perspective Shaped by Anthropology and Humanity

With advanced graduate work in Social Anthropology, I approach care with a distinctive lens. Culture, identity, meaning, values, relationships, and lived experience all matter. You are not treated as a diagnosis, but as a complex human being whose story deserves thoughtful understanding and respect.

Truly Invested Care

At Kavanah Psychiatry, you are not reduced to a chart, a checklist, or a hurried interaction. I am deeply engaged in the wellbeing of the clients I care for. I listen carefully, remain responsive, and stay meaningfully involved throughout our work together. Your care is personal, intentional, and taken seriously.

Collaborative, Not Prescriptive

There is no pressure here, and no rigid or “pushy” approach to medication. If something is not working, we adjust together. Your comfort, insight, and preferences matter deeply. Treatment is collaborative, transparent, and aligned with your values.

Warmth, Humanity, and Ease

Expert care should never feel cold or intimidating. My approach is grounded, calm, and human, with room for warmth and connection. Clients often describe the experience as steadying, reassuring, and gently hopeful.

Clinically Sophisticated and Evidence-Informed

Psychiatry is continually evolving, and I take that responsibility seriously. Your care is informed by current research, best practices, and ongoing professional development, delivered thoughtfully rather than reactively.

Supported by Trusted Medical Collaboration

When needed, I consult with a highly experienced collaborating psychiatrist to ensure access to additional expertise. This creates a “best of both worlds” model — personalized, attentive PMHNP care with the benefit of expert medical partnership when complex questions arise.
